Description:

  • Whatnot is a livestream shopping platform and marketplace focused on community, shopping, and entertainment.
  • The Trust & Safety engineering team at Whatnot is responsible for ensuring positive and safe user experiences on the platform.
  • As a Software Engineer on the Trust & Safety team, you will build systems to enhance user moderation, address internal issues, detect bad behavior, and scale solutions for future growth.
  • Key qualities needed include making sound product decisions, adapting to new domains, taking ownership, and delivering high-quality products efficiently.
  • The role offers individual responsibility, freedom, and a focus on hiring trustworthy individuals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in Trust & Safety.
  • Strong product instincts prioritizing user needs over technical solutions.
  • Experience in building scalable systems in high-growth environments.
  • Ability to deliver products quickly without compromising quality.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and self-driven work approach.
  • Proficiency in both backend and frontend development.
  • Quick learner with a track record of adopting new technologies.
  • Demonstrated history of delivering features successfully.
