Remote Software Engineer - Grafana k6 Cloud Data (Remote, EST/USA)

Description:

• This is a remote position and candidates in the Americas EST timezones are being considered.
• The Reliability Testing department of Grafana includes Grafana Cloud k6 (performance testing) and Grafana Synthetic Monitoring, both based on the k6 OSS tool.
• The mission is to empower engineers to build highly resilient and scalable systems through innovative open-source tools.
• You will work on Grafana Cloud k6, a commercial performance testing product designed for users wanting to run performance tests at scale.
• The SaaS offering allows customers to load test their systems by running distributed tests from over 20 regions worldwide, utilizing hundreds of thousands of virtual users.
• The role involves processing and efficiently storing vast amounts of data generated by tests in a cloud environment.
• You will pair with a seasoned mentor to develop your skills and work with your team to develop, architect, and operate large-scale distributed systems and storage solutions.
• Responsibilities include participating in design reviews, reviewing code, improving application reliability, collaborating on cross-functional features, participating in On-Call rotation, and contributing to documentation.

Requirements:

• You must be proficient in DevOps practices, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Python is required, and knowledge of Go is a plus.
• Good interpersonal and technical communication skills are essential.
• You should be enthusiastic about large-scale distributed systems and test automation.
• You will be expected to pair with a seasoned mentor to enhance your skills.
• Experience with Go and/or JavaScript, AWS, the Grafana stack, building event-driven systems, and working with time-series data is preferred but not required.
• An affinity for developing testing frameworks is also a plus.
