Description:
Perforce is seeking a Software Engineer I to join the Triage Manager of Software Engineering for P4 team.
The selected candidate will support backend technical operations and work closely with development and technical support teams to diagnose, reproduce, and resolve customer issues.
This role involves performing root cause analyses, reporting defects, and providing technical solutions based on documentation and internal expertise.
The engineer will assist the P4 Server team in addressing technical debt by fixing bugs and implementing small feature enhancements.
The triage team ensures ongoing system stability and performance, similar to a maintenance or sustaining team in other organizations.
Responsibilities include collaborating with teams to resolve issues, developing an understanding of the P4 Server Database, analyzing outputs for safety, troubleshooting technical issues, reading/writing C/C++ code, maintaining the P4 Server codebase, and continuously learning new technologies.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent is required.
Candidates must have 3+ years of experience in backend support or software engineering.
A minimum of 3+ years of experience supporting or administering complex software is necessary.
Strong database experience is required, with the ability to analyze and optimize data structures.
Expertise in crash dump or core file analysis is essential.
Experience working with geo-distributed teams across different time zones is needed.
Previous experience in a customer-facing role, assisting with issue resolution and technical inquiries, is required.
Candidates should have 3+ years of experience with at least two high-level programming languages, preferably C/C++.
Experience working with Docker and containerized environments is also required.
Benefits:
The position offers a salary range of $109,850 - $140,000 a year.
