Remote Software Engineer II

Description:

• We are seeking a remote Software Engineer II with experience in the research, design, and development of computer and network software or specialized utility programs.
• The Software Engineer II will analyze user needs, develop software solutions, and update or enhance existing software capabilities.
• This position is part of a mission-critical team advancing technology for our federal client’s next generation of environmental data.
• Essential functions include analyzing user needs and software requirements to determine design feasibility within time and cost constraints.
• The role involves creating, managing, and deploying containers to ensure efficient, consistent, and scalable application operations across various environments.
• The Software Engineer II will confer with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to design systems and obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
• Responsibilities include designing, developing, and modifying software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
• The position requires determining system performance standards and developing or directing software system testing or validation procedures, programming, or documentation.
• The Software Engineer II will monitor the functioning of equipment to ensure the system operates in conformance with specifications.
• This role is responsible for configuration management of requirements, code, and software configurations, and advising users on CM policies and procedures.
• The Software Engineer II will develop and maintain CM processes, plans, policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and other documents.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field, or equivalent work experience is required.
• Candidates must have 6-8 years of Software Engineer experience.
• Proven experience in the development and implementation of software applications is essential.
• Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices is required.
• Candidates should have experience with OpenShift for containerization and Kubernetes.
• Strong scripting language skills are required.
• Experience with SCM concepts and methodologies is necessary.
• In-depth knowledge of branching, merging, and baselining strategies is required.
• The ability to work well with others, collaborate, and communicate effectively is essential.
• Candidates must have the ability to obtain a government security clearance.

• The base salary range for this position is $104,079 to $146,713, determined by various factors including position scope, complexities, responsibilities, geographic location, market conditions, and the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and skills.
