Remote Software Engineer II at Marqeta

Description:

The Software Engineer II will join one of Marqeta's Core Platform Engineering teams responsible for developing and managing the Marqeta platform used by customers to launch and manage payment card programs.
The role involves working with card networks and issuing banks to issue cards, authorize transactions, and communicate with settlement entities.
Multiple teams within Core Platform are hiring, including Ledger, Core Objects, Transaction Foundation, Identity Platform, and Core Edge Processing.
Responsibilities include delivering resilient and sustainable software projects from design to implementation and rollout.
The engineer will work on defined projects to achieve team-level goals, own minor features, contribute to test development and bug fixing, and may mentor new hires, interns, or more junior engineers.

2+ years of experience as a backend engineer and a Bachelor's degree; or an advanced degree with no relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, 5+ years of relevant experience may suffice.
Proficiency in Java and/or Python, with a welcome for experience in other programming languages.
Experience with relational databases such as MySQL, Postgres, MS SQL Server, Oracle, etc.
Ability to make technical trade-offs, navigate technical complexities, demonstrate humility, empathy, and take constructive feedback positively.
Desire to grow in the career, learn, share ideas, help others grow and learn, and work productively on cross-functional teams.

Competitive base salary range of CAD 81,000 - 108,000, calibrated according to working location.
