Description:

  • Stavvy is transforming how business is conducted remotely by making complex legal and financial transactions easier, safer, and more accessible to all.
  • The Software Engineer II role is integral to the growing Engineering team, responsible for developing core backend capabilities that impact Stavvy’s user experience.
  • This position focuses on simplifying processes in the mortgage industry and moving towards paperless transactions, specifically working on a feature to assist customers with mortgage forbearance.
  • The role can be fully remote, but the Software Engineer II is expected to work on East Coast hours.
  • Responsibilities include writing well-tested, scalable, production-ready code in Java, developing back-end systems with Java APIs, and collaborating with QA and development teams to understand requirements.
  • The engineer will also test and debug code, improve existing systems, participate in agile team ceremonies, and work on special projects as designated by the manager.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 3+ years of back-end engineering experience with Java.
  • A strong understanding of modern web infrastructure and architecture patterns is required.
  • Experience building services in a cloud platform, preferably AWS, is necessary.
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL or another SQL database is essential.
  • Experience with DataDog and a strong interest in observability is a plus.
  • Candidates should be capable of writing complex backend code for a publicly accessible web application that can scale with business growth.
  • Experience in the SaaS space and startup environment is preferred.
  • A commitment to collaborative problem solving and sophisticated design is required.
  • Candidates should be natural collaborators and problem solvers who thrive in fast-paced environments.
  • A relentless curiosity and a continuous desire to build knowledge and learn are essential traits.
