Description:
- Shippo is seeking a Backend Software Engineer II/III to join the Address Validation, Tracking, and Pickups team.
- The team is responsible for developing new features, building infrastructure, and maintaining current services.
- The role involves implementing, testing, and deploying software services with high SLAs that can handle millions of requests a day using a BDD approach.
- Responsibilities include verifying performance and correctness of systems, refactoring existing systems for optimal performance, and contributing to design and peer reviews.
- The engineer will build automated test suites for new features, products, and systems while working in an Agile process.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills are required to translate business challenges into technical solutions.
- The engineer will join the on-call rotation and respond quickly to system incidents.
Requirements:
- Candidates must have 3+ years of experience in software development.
- Proficiency in at least one server-side programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, Ruby) and database languages (SQL) is required.
- Experience with a server-side MVC framework (e.g., Django, .NET, Spring, Rails, Phoenix) is necessary.
- A solid understanding of object-oriented programming and familiarity with various design and architectural patterns is expected.
- Candidates should demonstrate the ability to identify opportunities and foster a culture of innovation while building for scale.
- High ownership and attention to system reliability and monitoring are essential.
- Core behaviors should focus on craftsmanship, continuous improvement, and team success.
- A BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required.
