Description:
Shippo is seeking a Software Engineer III to join their Labels team, which is responsible for building and maintaining the label core API and critical carrier integrations like USPS, UPS, and FedEx.
The role involves designing, implementing, testing, and deploying software services that can handle millions of requests daily with high service level agreements (SLAs).
Responsibilities include ensuring scalability and maintainability through microservices, enhancing the CI/CD pipeline for smooth production releases, and verifying system performance and correctness.
The engineer will design and maintain database schemas for large-scale services, architect systems for optimal performance, and participate in peer reviews and testing.
Collaboration with business teams to provide input on new product ideas and functionality is essential, along with being on-call to respond to system incidents.
The position also requires championing testing procedures and automation, as well as assisting with gathering business requirements and verification.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 6+ years of experience in software development.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of the organization are required.
Experience in building and supporting scalable APIs, services, or applications is necessary.
A solid understanding of object-oriented programming and familiarity with various design and architectural patterns is essential.
Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
A deep understanding of customer needs and a passion for customer success are important.
Candidates should have coding experience in server-side programming languages (e.g., Go, Python, Java, Ruby) and database languages (SQL).
Experience with server-side MVC frameworks (e.g., Django, .NET, Spring, Rails, Phoenix) is required.
A BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is necessary.
Advanced/Fluent English proficiency is required.
