Description:

Baseten is seeking a software engineer with a focus on infrastructure to help build and direct the upcoming versions of its cloud infrastructure.
The role involves developing and maintaining software systems using programming languages such as Python, Ruby, or Go.
Responsibilities include managing Kubernetes clusters in production settings to ensure stability and scalability.
The engineer will need to understand and address security, observability, SLA, and scalability implications while avoiding premature optimization.
The position requires ownership of products and projects end-to-end, functioning as both an engineer and a project manager with a focus on user empathy and execution.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams to translate project requirements into technical solutions is essential.
The role may involve mentoring and potentially leading a team, fostering growth and knowledge sharing.
The engineer must navigate ambiguity and exercise good judgment on tradeoffs and tools needed to solve problems, while demonstrating pride, ownership, and accountability for their work.

Requirements:

A Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field is required.
Candidates must have 3+ years of professional work experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages, including Python, Ruby, or Go, is necessary.
Candidates should have experience managing Kubernetes clusters in production environments.
A strong understanding of security, observability, SLA, and scalability considerations is required.
Experience supporting machine learning teams or building ML Ops platforms is a plus, along with a strong interest in learning about machine learning.
An interest in growing and leading a team is highly valued.
