Description:
Cultivarium is a Focused Research Organization (FRO) with a mission to accelerate the adoption of novel microorganisms for biotechnology.
The Software Engineer Intern will contribute individually and as part of a team to create tangible solutions for a ‘moonshot’ project.
The intern will be part of a close-knit, driven team of scientists and engineers building technological infrastructure for the cultivation of non-model microorganisms.
This role involves building web tools for quickly and iteratively prototyping user interfaces aimed at a scientific audience.
The internship offers a unique, hands-on opportunity to apply software engineering skills in a dynamic biotech environment.
The length of the internship is 3 months with the possibility of extension.
The intern will leverage software development skills to build and ship minimum viable products (MVPs).
The focus will be on understanding diverse product requirements and accompanying data structures to develop novel tools that accelerate the research process for scientists.
Requirements:
The candidate must have graduated or be pursuing a Master’s degree in computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, or a related field.
The candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Proficiency with UNIX command-line tools, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React is required.
Some familiarity with modern cloud-based application deployment platforms (e.g., Heroku, Netlify, Firebase) is necessary.
An interest in AI and its application to web development is preferred.
The candidate must have the ability to translate technical requirements into functional software specifications.
The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and adapt quickly to evolving needs is essential.
Strong creative problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach are required.
The candidate must be able to prioritize tasks effectively, communicate clearly with colleagues, and consistently meet deadlines.
