Description:

Cloudflare is seeking a Software Engineer for their Kubernetes platform team, which is responsible for critical internal services that run on Kubernetes.
The role involves building tools to help engineers deploy and operate services that support Cloudflare's operations.
Responsibilities include improving automation, configuration management, and tooling for Kubernetes, Ceph, and Prometheus.
The engineer will design scalable and resilient systems to accommodate company growth and improve resource management efficiency.
The position requires hardening the platform against security threats and resource contention issues.
The engineer will enhance GitOps systems and practices and collaborate with application teams to address challenges in system architecture on Kubernetes.
Contributions to the open-source community are encouraged, with a focus on projects like Prometheus, Rook.io, and others.
The role also includes responding to and preventing incidents impacting core platforms.

Requirements:

Candidates must have experience managing production Kubernetes or similar orchestration platforms.
Recent experience with configuration management frameworks such as SaltStack or Ansible is required.
A solid understanding of container runtimes within Linux, including isolation, storage, and networking, is necessary.
Proficiency in coding with Bash, TypeScript, and Go is essential.
A firm grasp of IP networking, including routing and iptables, is required.
Excellent debugging skills in a Linux environment are necessary.
Experience with source control, including branching, merging, and rebasing, is required.
Candidates should be able to break down complex problems, provide options, discuss trade-offs, and drive solutions.
