Description:

Canonical is seeking a Software Engineer to work on developing Ubuntu-based container images for open-source application deployment.
The role involves building and maintaining tools and technology for the new generation of container images, ensuring high quality and a seamless Ubuntu user experience.
Responsibilities include implementing and maintaining CI/CD automation for container images, contributing to products like Rocks and Chisel, and engaging with the open-source community.
The position offers the opportunity to work with various container technologies, participate in exploratory tasks, and provide technical feedback for decision-making processes.
The Software Engineer will work remotely, collaborate with global teams, mentor junior members, and engage in global travel for events.

Requirements:

Knowledge and passion for software development.
Experience in collaborative development and working with CI/CD systems like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Concourse CI.
Track record of delivering high-quality software in a timely manner.
Familiarity with container images, containerized operations, and container management tools like Docker or Kubernetes.
Proficiency in Python and/or Go, along with Linux systems administration and package management experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey technical concepts effectively.
Ability to contribute to technical and engineering discussions, mentor team members, and share knowledge.
Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or related field.
