Remote Software Engineer, Observability

Description:

• NetBox Labs is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Observability Team, which is crucial for network automation and assurance.
• The role involves building and extending the Discovery & Assurance suite of products, including network observability, monitoring, agents, and fleet management.
• The engineer will deliver both closed and open source software and will own projects such as Orb, Diode, and pktvisor.
• Collaboration will be required with product management to enhance user experience, the Core Applications Engineering team to develop observability tools, the Platform Engineering team for integration with NetBox Cloud and Enterprise, and community members as users and contributors.

Requirements:

• Candidates should have 3+ years of experience with idiomatic Golang.
• Experience with Python, Docker, gRPC, PostgreSQL, and Redis is required.
• Applicants should have experience in building microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture.
• A deep knowledge of observability, monitoring, and instrumentation, such as OpenTelemetry and MQTT, is preferred.
• A solid understanding of network infrastructure, including devices, configurations, networking protocols, and network automation with Ansible is necessary.
• Candidates should have 3+ years of experience in a fast-paced SaaS startup environment.
• Great communication skills are essential, including the ability to write technical specifications with diagrams.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, GitHub workflows, Kubernetes, and Helm is required.
• Involvement with open source projects as a founder, maintainer, or key contributor is a plus.
