Remote Software Engineer, Observability

Description:

• NetBox Labs is seeking a Software Engineer with over 5 years of experience to join the Observability Team.
• The Observability Team is responsible for Network Discovery & Reconciliation, Network Observability & Monitoring, and Agents & Fleet Management.
• The team delivers both closed and open source software and owns projects such as Orb, Diode, and pktvisor.
• The role requires experience with idiomatic Golang, Python, Docker, gRPC, PostgreSQL, and Redis.
• Candidates should have experience with microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture.
• A deep knowledge of observability, monitoring, and instrumentation is essential.
• A solid understanding of networking concepts, including devices, device configurations, and networking protocols, is required.
• Great communication skills are necessary, including the ability to write technical specifications with diagrams.
• The engineer will collaborate closely with product owners, the NetBox team, the platform team, and community members.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience with idiomatic Golang.
• Experience with Python, Docker, gRPC, PostgreSQL, and Redis is required.
• A background in microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture is necessary.
• Applicants should possess deep knowledge of observability, monitoring, and instrumentation.
• A solid understanding of networking concepts, including devices and networking protocols, is essential.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to write technical specifications with diagrams, are required.
• It is preferred to have 3+ years of experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, gNMI, MQTT or IoT, Django, NetBox, and NetBox plugins is a plus.
