Description:

  • Rerun is seeking a Software Engineer (Rust) to help build a multimodal data stack for Physical AI.
  • The role involves contributing to the Rerun infrastructure, including the open source viewer and cross-language SDKs, while processing large volumes of 2D, 3D, time-series, and statistical data in real time.
  • The engineer will make technology and architecture decisions that impact the full stack and will profile and optimize user workflows across multiple desktop platforms and the web.
  • Contributions to downstream open source projects may be necessary to facilitate progress.
  • The engineer will assist the open source community in achieving great results using the Rerun data and visualization stack.

Requirements:

  • Strong programming skills in Rust with experience in building real-time, high-performance applications that have rich visual output.
  • Familiarity with game engine-style architectures, particularly where rendering, responsiveness, and UI interactivity intersect.
  • A strong track record in interactive data visualization, especially with large datasets and complex visual structures.
  • Comfort with Rust-based UI frameworks like egui or similar, and the ability to craft intuitive and responsive interfaces.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, as interaction with both the community and team is required.
  • A helpful attitude and a curious mind, along with an ownership mindset, are essential.
