Remote Software Engineer, Rust

Description:

• InfluxData is seeking a Software Engineer with experience in Rust and some exposure to columnar database internals.
• The role involves contributing to the development of InfluxDB 3.0, a fast, columnar, time series database backed by object storage, written in Rust.
• Responsibilities include writing well-tested high-performance Rust code for a vectorized in-memory columnar store, designing and implementing core components of InfluxDB 3 OSS and Pro, and communicating ideas through design documents and documentation.
• The position requires performing code reviews for peers and open source contributors and fixing issues encountered by customers and open source users.
• The team operates 100% remotely, and being part of an on-call rotation is a requirement.
• The application window will remain open until at least October 4, 2024, or based on business needs.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have strong computer science fundamentals and a genuine love of programming.
• A minimum of 3 years of backend experience in a mainstream language such as Rust, C/C++, or Go is required.
• At least 1 year of solid experience in Rust is necessary.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• The ability to work asynchronously is required.
• Bonus points for experience with database internals, working with distributed teams, or contributing to a popular open source project.
