Remote Software Engineer (Scala), Supply and Demand Team

Description:

• The Supply and Demand team at Wolt is looking to add a Backend Engineer to enhance operational efficiency through automation in managing supply and demand.
• The team's mission is to create efficient cities for customers, merchants, and couriers by building tools that balance the number of courier partners online with customer orders.
• Responsibilities include developing features that provide forecasts to courier partners and Wolt operations, as well as creating dynamic solutions to influence supply and demand.
• The role involves working on topics such as courier engagement and activation bonuses, encouraging innovative approaches and experimentation.
• Collaboration with various teams, including applied science, analytics, product management, and operations, is a key aspect of the job.
• The team consists of frontend developers, backend engineers, applied scientists, and leadership, primarily using Python, Scala, and TypeScript (React).
• The position can be based in tech hubs in Helsinki, Stockholm, or Berlin, or remotely in Finland, Sweden, Germany, or Estonia.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have solid experience in designing, building, and integrating quality software (microservices) in Scala on a large scale within a complex domain, focusing on an event-driven approach.
• Knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, observability tools (like DataDog), and both SQL and noSQL databases (including PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Mongo, and Redis) is required.
• A dedicated, pragmatic individual with a positive attitude, curiosity, and a willingness to learn continuously is essential.
• Comfort in working with real-world data and its nuances is necessary.
• Candidates should have several years of experience in backend development and a keen interest in scalability challenges.
