Description:

• The role is for a Backend Engineer in the Supply and Demand team at Wolt, focusing on automating the management of supply and demand for courier partners and customer orders.
• The team aims to enhance operational efficiency in Wolt cities by building tools and features that balance the number of courier partners online with customer orders.
• Responsibilities include working on courier engagement and activation bonuses, encouraging innovative approaches and experimentation.
• The position involves collaboration with various teams such as applied science, analytics, product management, and operations.
• The role requires designing systems to optimize courier activation and bonuses, solving complex logistics and machine learning problems.
• The team consists of frontend developers, backend engineers, applied scientists, and leads, using programming languages like Python, Scala, and TypeScript (React).
• The position can be based in Helsinki, Stockholm, Berlin, or remotely in Finland, Sweden, Germany, or Estonia.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have solid experience in designing, building, and integrating quality software (microservices) in Scala on a large scale within a complex domain.
• A strong focus on an event-driven approach is required, with the ability to make decisions in real-time.
• Knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, observability tools (like DataDog), and data storage solutions (both SQL and noSQL databases) is essential.
• Familiarity with multiple database solutions such as PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Mongo, and Redis is necessary.
• Candidates should be dedicated, pragmatic, and possess a positive attitude, with a willingness to step outside their comfort zone and continuously learn.
• Comfort in working with real-world data and its nuances is required.
