Description:
BioRender is seeking a Senior or Staff Software Engineer specializing in Site Reliability to join their Platform Engineering team.
The role involves developing and maintaining a resilient, high-performance, and secure platform that supports BioRender's mission to enhance science communication.
Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems, as well as integrating and deploying applications into the cloud using automation, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
The position requires establishing observability with actionable alerts to detect performance bottlenecks and addressing production issues promptly.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast-paced environment, a passion for building scalable solutions, and strong problem-solving skills.
The role emphasizes collaboration, effective communication, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 10-12+ years of experience in software, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering.
Strong programming skills in at least two of the following languages: JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or Go are required.
The ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems at scale is essential.
Experience with database performance monitoring and best practices is necessary.
Candidates should be comfortable innovating and establishing new practices, processes, and tooling.
Strong analytical skills and expertise in system design and architecture for cloud applications are required.
Proficiency in CI/CD, configuration management, monitoring, and automation is necessary.
Advanced knowledge of observability tools and best practices, such as ELK, Datadog, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana, is required.
Experience with deployment and orchestration using AWS ECS, Kubernetes, or CloudRun is essential.
A solid understanding of Linux, virtualization, networking, VPCs, firewalls, and security groups is necessary.
Hands-on knowledge of AWS and resource provisioning via CLI/API/IaC is required.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience, is necessary.
