Remote Software Engineer - Stores

Description:

• This position is for a software engineer passionate about open source software, Linux, and Web Services at scale.
• The role involves working with Canonical's Store team, which develops and operates backend services for the Snap Store and Charmhub.io marketplaces.
• The services are primarily built in Python, with some components in Golang.
• Responsibilities include collaborating remotely with a globally distributed team, writing clean web service APIs, designing and implementing new features, reviewing code, and discussing ideas for solutions.
• The position requires remote work with occasional global travel for 2 to 4 weeks for events.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have professional proficiency in developing public-facing APIs and web applications using Python.
• A broad technology base is required, with a preference for backend code and infrastructure.
• Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases is necessary, along with the ability to design effective data models and tune queries.
• Comfort with Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform is essential.
• Strong academic performance in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar degree is required.
• Candidates should be curious, flexible, articulate, accountable, and value soft skills.
• A passion for technology and working with a diverse team is important.
