Remote Software Engineer, Transport

Description:

• Reddit is seeking a Software Engineer for its Transport team, which operates remotely in the United States.
• The role involves a mix of software engineering and cloud engineering, focusing on automating workflows for Reddit's production infrastructure.
• Responsibilities include collaborating with software and systems engineers to maintain the foundational platform for Reddit’s infrastructure.
• The candidate will develop reliable and efficient workflows to automate operational tasks essential for the Transport infrastructure.
• The position requires designing, writing, and delivering software to enhance the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Reddit’s products, primarily using Go and occasionally Python.
• The role also involves providing feedback on the technical and strategic direction of the Transport infrastructure.
• Troubleshooting and analyzing issues as Reddit scales and customer workloads change is a significant part of the job.

Requirements:

• The candidate should have at least 3 years of experience developing internet-scale software, preferably in infrastructure roles.
• Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Golang, Python, Java, or C++ is required.
• Prior experience with networking technologies like Envoy, Contour, Nginx, CDNs, GRPC, and service meshes (e.g., Istio, Cilium) is a plus, especially in Kubernetes environments.
• Experience operating large-scale critical infrastructure systems with a focus on automation and workflow development is preferred, particularly in on-call roles.
• Excellent communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration with a service-oriented team and the company.
