Remote Software Engineering Intern

Description:

• The Ethereum Foundation (EF) is a global non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Ethereum and related technologies.
• The mission of the EF is to do what is best for Ethereum’s long-term success by allocating resources to critical projects and advocating for Ethereum.
• Interns will work alongside leading experts at the Ethereum Foundation and contribute to critical projects that advance the protocol, improve network security, enhance tooling, and push the boundaries of blockchain technology.
• This internship offers hands-on experience with cutting-edge engineering while shaping the future of Ethereum.
• Interns can choose to work remotely or in one of the EF offices located in Boulder (USA) or Berlin (Germany).
• Interns will be invited for an in-person cohort meetup in the summer.
• The internship lasts for 12 weeks during summer 2025 and interns will be assigned to one of several projects, including the Portal Network, Ethereum Execution Spec Tests, Ethereum Execution Layer Specification, Go-ethereum, Account Abstraction, or Protocol Security Research.
• Responsibilities include collaborating with teams to develop, test, and maintain tools, protocols, and specifications, contributing to client development and security auditing, assisting in developing standards, conducting research, and contributing to open-source codebases.

Requirements:

• Candidates must be currently pursuing a degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in one or more areas such as cybersecurity, mechanism design, cryptography, distributed systems, or smart contract development is required.
• Proficiency in relevant programming languages, including Go, Rust, Python, or Solidity, is necessary.
• Familiarity with Ethereum projects, protocols, and tooling, such as go-ethereum, hive, ERC-4337, or the EVM, is expected.
• Strong communication skills and a passion for open-source collaboration are essential.
