Description:
Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is seeking an experienced Senior Software Systems Developer to join its flagship contract to support an existing task order.
The position is 100% remote and requires the ability to obtain Public Trust.
The ideal candidate will have experience with DevOps tools/technologies, working in a Linux environment, and databases such as MySQL/MariaDB.
Proficiency in coding languages including Python, PHP, HTML, and JavaScript is required.
The candidate will report to the Project Manager and provide weekly reports on project status, issues, concerns, and mitigation strategies.
Responsibilities include refactoring and updating existing code per new business requirements, maintaining a public website by fixing bugs and implementing new features, and modifying the database to capture new data elements.
The candidate must adhere to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and industry best practices for analyzing, developing, unit testing, peer reviewing, and deploying code.
Collaboration with customers to address defects/issues found during Quality Control and User Acceptance Testing is essential.
The candidate will also collaborate with other developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues identified by users/customers.
Weekly updates on project status, issues, and risks will be provided to the Task Lead and Program Manager.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
A minimum of 6 years of professional experience is necessary.
The candidate must be an expert in Python and understand the fundamental design principles behind scalable applications.
A strong understanding of front-end technologies such as JavaScript/jQuery, HTML, CSS, and JSON is required.
Knowledge of object-oriented PHP programming is essential.
In-depth knowledge of relational databases, including tables, joins, stored procedures, transactions, database schemas, and logging, is required.
The candidate should be knowledgeable about Linux, cloud computing, containers, and DevOps processes.
Strong unit testing and debugging skills are necessary.
Proficiency in Git and code versioning tools is required.
