Description:

  • Kong is seeking a seasoned, customer-facing Sales Engineer to help drive new business and evangelize their technology.
  • The role involves onboarding and training new customers while establishing revenue potential with existing customers.
  • The ideal candidate should have experience with open source technology and a strong knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, HTTP, cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure), and SaaS technologies.
  • Responsibilities include supporting field sales in demonstrating the value of the Kong API Management platform.
  • The Sales Engineer will understand and establish customer requirements, fostering trusted client relationships throughout the sales lifecycle.
  • They will support Proof of Concepts (PoCs) during the evaluation process and ensure 100% customer satisfaction across assigned accounts.
  • The role requires prioritizing customer needs and coordinating with support, product, and engineering teams to address those needs.
  • The Sales Engineer will also create technical documentation for DevOps, implementations, and services engagements, along with any additional tasks required by the manager.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in software engineering and/or sales engineering management at a SaaS, Open Source, or Enterprise Software company.
  • A solid understanding of cloud computing trends and open source business models is required.
  • Strong listening and communication skills are essential for this role.
  • The candidate should be able to confidently lead discussions with Product Managers, Engineers, and Executives.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a high-profile, fast-paced startup culture is necessary.
