Description:
Kong is seeking a seasoned, customer-facing Sales Engineer to help drive new business and evangelize their technology.
The role involves onboarding and training new customers while establishing revenue potential with existing customers.
The ideal candidate should have experience with open source technology and a strong knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, HTTP, cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure), and SaaS technologies.
Responsibilities include supporting field sales, understanding customer requirements, and building trusted client relationships throughout the sales lifecycle.
The Sales Engineer will support Proof of Concepts (PoCs) during the evaluation process and ensure 100% customer satisfaction across assigned accounts.
The role requires prioritizing customer needs and coordinating with support, product, and engineering teams.
The candidate will also create technical documentation for DevOps, implementations, and services engagements, along with any additional tasks required by the manager.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering and/or sales engineering management at a SaaS, Open Source, or Enterprise Software company is required.
A solid understanding of cloud computing trends and open source business models is essential.
The candidate must be a strong listener and communicator, capable of leading discussions with Product Managers, Engineers, and Executives.
Enthusiasm for working in a high-profile, fast-paced startup culture is necessary.
Bonus points for experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and fluency in working on Linux operating systems.
Familiarity with Continuous Deployment/Continuous Integration (CD/CI) pipelines and knowledge of DCOS/Mesos and Docker Swarm is a plus.
