Description:
The role is for a Specialist, Database Administrator on a contract basis at Teleport.
Responsibilities include installing, configuring, and maintaining both relational and non-relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, and DynamoDB.
The candidate will ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies are implemented and maintained.
Monitoring database performance and performing tuning, optimization, and scaling is essential.
The role involves implementing security best practices for data access, encryption, and auditing.
The candidate will design and maintain database schemas, tables, and stored procedures.
Collaboration with development, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to support data-driven applications is required.
Routine database maintenance including upgrades, patches, and capacity planning will be part of the job.
Troubleshooting and resolving database issues in a timely manner is expected.
The candidate will support migration and data replication projects across different environments.
Documentation of database configurations, processes, and standards is necessary.
Requirements:
Proven experience with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Oracle is required.
Proven experience with non-relational databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB, Redis, or similar is necessary.
Strong SQL scripting, performance tuning, and indexing knowledge is essential.
Understanding of data replication, sharding, partitioning, and clustering is required.
Experience with backup and recovery strategies in both relational and non-relational environments is necessary.
Familiarity with cloud-based database services such as AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Google Cloud SQL, and MongoDB Atlas is required.
Knowledge of database security, encryption, and compliance standards such as GDPR and HIPAA is essential.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are required.
The ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to cross-functional teams is necessary.
Comfort in working in Agile or DevOps environments is required.
Strong documentation and organizational skills are essential.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.
Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation is preferred.
Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or New Relic is preferred.
Experience with containerized environments such as Docker or Kubernetes and their data persistence strategies is preferred.
Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP) are a plus.
