Description:
The Lead Instructor will be responsible for delivering high-quality computer science education to students, fostering an engaging and welcoming classroom environment.
This role involves planning and facilitating two lessons per week using Mission Bit’s in-house project-based curriculum.
The position is seasonal and remote, running from January 23 to May 16, 2025, with approximately 6 hours of work per week.
Instructor training will occur asynchronously from January 23 to January 30, 2025, followed by live training on January 30 and 31, 2025.
Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from February 10 to May 9, 2025, from 4:50 PM to 7:10 PM.
Weekly meetings with the instructional team will take place on Mondays from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
The instructor will spend 70% of their time on teaching, preparation, and student support, 20% on professional collaboration, and 10% on communication.
Requirements:
Candidates must have at least 2+ years of experience in Game Design/Unity/C#, which can include college, bootcamps, internships, or workforce experience.
A passion for sharing computer science knowledge and values aligned with Mission Bit are essential.
Experience working effectively on a team for technical projects is required.
Strong communication skills and comfort in public speaking situations are necessary.
Experience working with a diverse group of individuals is important.
Candidates should be self-starting and able to work autonomously.
While not required, experience working with youth in an educational setting, project-based learning, asset-based teaching, or culturally relevant teaching is a plus.
Being bilingual in Spanish, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Arabic, Tagalog, or Samoan is also a nice bonus.
Benefits:
The position offers a pay rate of $28.00 per hour.
Instructors will accrue sick time-off during their employment.
