Remote SQL Database Administrator

Description:

• We are seeking a SQL Server Database Administrator to manage and maintain SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments.
• The role requires expertise in backup and restore processes, query optimization, logging and monitoring, authentication and authorization, and the upgrade and retirement of legacy systems.
• Responsibilities include managing database backups using native tools and AWS Backup, optimizing queries, handling vendor/shadow database queries, implementing logging and monitoring solutions, integrating security systems, and designing authentication and authorization frameworks.
• The candidate will oversee RDS and EC2 SQL Server and PostgreSQL upgrades.
• The position involves working with both Windows and GNU/Linux environments.
• The role requires leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like CDK and Terraform while managing cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as an SQL Server Database Administrator is required.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server and PostgreSQL is essential.
• Expertise in backup and restore strategies, query optimization, and monitoring is necessary.
• Hands-on experience with cloud-based databases (AWS, Azure, GCP) is required.
• Familiarity with authentication and authorization architectures is needed.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like CDK and Terraform is essential.
• Experience working with both Windows and GNU/Linux environments is required.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are necessary.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential.
