Remote Sr. Android Engineer

Description:

• HopSkipDrive is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to contribute to the app architecture, design, and implementation of features in the Android apps using the latest technologies.
• The Senior Engineer should be proficient in Kotlin, Java, and mobile development, capable of owning technical design for projects of moderate complexity.
• Responsibilities include building compelling in-app experiences, staying updated on platform advancements, participating in on-call support, fixing bugs, and monitoring app performance.
• The Senior Engineer will communicate effectively with team members, actively pursue improving engineering skills, and contribute meaningfully to the definition of user stories.
• They will own and complete full projects, review other engineers' code, mentor team members, and maintain high individual and team expectations.
• The role involves monitoring changes in production, providing thoughtful evaluations and feedback during candidate interviews, and demonstrating a passion for building high-quality software.

Requirements:

• B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 3+ years of commercial native Android development experience and 5+ years of professional software engineering.
• Deep understanding of the Android SDK, Android UI design principles, and mobile architectural patterns.
• Proficiency in Kotlin, Java, Android architecture components, multi-threading, memory management, performance tuning, algorithms, data structures, and building UI for multiple device sizes.
• Experience with HTTP & socket data APIs, Relational Databases, dependency injection, and writing tests.
• Ability to unblock themselves and other team members, excellent communication skills, and a connection to HopSkipDrive's mission and values.
