Description:

Zapier is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Manage team, which focuses on helping users organize their automation assets in a single, intuitive place.
The Manage team is developing Projects, a feature that will centralize critical tools for managing, monitoring, and scaling workflows within Zapier.
The role involves transforming how millions of users manage their workflows and ensuring that Zapier remains effective and powerful as usage grows.
The position is fully remote, targeting candidates in Americas time zones (Atlantic, Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific).
The Senior Backend Engineer will lead feature design and development, build APIs for internal teams, and become an expert in the team’s services.
Responsibilities include mentoring junior engineers, monitoring system health, resolving bugs, and collaborating across teams to bring innovative solutions to customers.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 7+ years of experience, with at least 5 years dedicated to building distributed, scalable web applications.
Strong expertise in Python for building web services is required.
Experience with AWS and cloud technologies is necessary.
Candidates should have experience working with MySQL and/or Postgres and shipping database-backed web services at scale.
Familiarity with event-based technologies such as Kafka or SQS is required.
Proficiency in using monitoring tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and Datadog for performance optimization is essential.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira for sprint planning and collaboration is expected.
Nice-to-have skills include experience in iterative customer feature delivery and developing scalable APIs.
