Description:

The position is for a Sr Backend Engineer (Node.js/AWS/K8s) in Infra Engineering, which is a remote role available to candidates in EMEA, Ireland, Portugal, UK, or Brazil.
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will work at the intersection of DevOps and Engineering, ensuring that Deel’s platform runs smoothly and can scale efficiently.
Your responsibilities will include creating and maintaining robust internal tools, implementing engineering best practices, and collaborating with teams to improve system performance.
You will be involved in system design, handling high-load core services, and leading efforts to ensure that Deel’s infrastructure supports rapid business growth.
The role requires strong Node.js skills, experience with cloud environments (AWS), Kubernetes, and Docker, as well as a proactive problem-solving mindset.
Key accountabilities include developing and maintaining high-performance backend systems, contributing to system design and architecture, collaborating with cross-functional teams, creating and managing internal tooling, enforcing engineering standards, and responding to production incidents.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 7+ years of experience in engineering, with a focus on backend development.
Proficiency in Node.js and experience in cloud environments like AWS are required.
Hands-on knowledge of Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker is necessary.
Familiarity with databases such as Postgres/MySQL and messaging systems like RabbitMQ/Nats/Kafka is expected.
Strong system design and problem-solving abilities, especially when faced with the unknown, are essential.
Excellent communication skills and experience working across multiple teams are required.
A troubleshooting mindset and the ability to solve complex technical challenges are necessary for this role.
