Description:

  • The Sr Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for architecting and building a robust, scalable, and highly available distributed infrastructure.
  • This role involves building a cutting-edge cloud-native platform on top of the public cloud and automating cloud resource management.
  • The engineer will work closely with the ClickHouse core database development team and the security team to produce the SAS offering.
  • Responsibilities include working on routing and traffic components to enhance the reliability and scalability of the cloud service.
  • The engineer will systematically improve availability by applying industry and distributed systems best practices.
  • The role also includes designing and building security components and tooling such as firewalls, PKI, certificate infrastructure, and zero trust networks.
  • The engineer will focus on improving the performance and cost efficiency of the infrastructure.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 5+ years of relevant software development industry experience in building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in software development using Go, C/C++, Java, or similar languages is required.
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, including infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation, is necessary.
  • Candidates should have experience developing cloud infrastructure services, preferably with Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with ClickHouse is required.
  • Experience in developing cloud-native edge or service mesh services, preferably with Envoy and Istio, is essential.
  • Candidates should have experience leading and shipping large scope technical projects in collaboration with multiple experienced engineers.
  • A solid understanding of network topologies, protocols, and security principles, including VPNs, firewalls, and load balancers, is required.
  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices, including encryption, access controls, and compliance standards like SOC2 and GDPR, is necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and across engineering teams are essential.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and solid production debugging skills are required.
  • Candidates should be passionate about efficiency, availability, scalability, and data governance.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and a strong sense of responsibility, ownership, and accountability are important.
