Description:
The Sr Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for architecting and building a robust, scalable, and highly available distributed infrastructure.
This role involves building a cutting-edge cloud-native platform on top of the public cloud and automating cloud resource management.
The engineer will work closely with the ClickHouse core database development team and the security team to produce the SAS offering.
Responsibilities include working on routing and traffic components to enhance the reliability and scalability of the cloud service.
The engineer will systematically improve availability by applying industry and distributed systems best practices.
The role requires designing and building security components and tooling, such as firewalls, PKI and certificate infrastructure, and zero trust networks.
The engineer will also focus on improving the performance and cost efficiency of the infrastructure.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of relevant software development industry experience in building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems.
Proficiency in software development using Go, C/C++, Java, or similar languages is required.
Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, including infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation, is necessary.
Candidates should have experience developing cloud infrastructure services, preferably with Kubernetes.
Experience in developing cloud-native edge or service mesh services, preferably with Envoy and Istio, is required.
The ability to lead and ship large scope technical projects in collaboration with multiple experienced engineers is essential.
A solid understanding of network topologies, protocols, and security principles, including VPNs, firewalls, and load balancers, is needed.
Knowledge of cloud security best practices, including encryption, access controls, and compliance standards like SOC2 and GDPR, is important.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and across engineering teams are required.
Strong problem-solving skills and solid production debugging skills are necessary.
Candidates should be passionate about efficiency, availability, scalability, and data governance.
The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and a high level of responsibility, ownership, and accountability are essential.
