Description:

The Sr. Content Writer (UX) position is a full-time role with a salary of $125,000 per year, fully remote within the Continental U.S.
The company, Friends From The City, focuses on creating user-centered, inclusive, and accessible digital experiences for federal agencies, particularly for Veterans.
The role involves creating clear, concise, and engaging content that connects with Veterans, ensuring that complex information is user-centered and easy to understand.
Responsibilities include writing and editing plain language content for VA.gov web pages, collaborating with designers and product managers, coaching VA product teams on clear content, managing work across multiple product teams, auditing content, and supporting content migration efforts.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 5+ years of professional content or UX writing experience.
A strong portfolio showcasing diverse writing samples that demonstrate the use of plain language in web applications, forms, or mobile apps is required.
Excellent research skills and the ability to simplify complex information into engaging content are essential.
Strong attention to detail and adherence to content style guides are necessary.
Understanding of UX writing principles, particularly regarding accessibility and inclusive communication practices, is required.
Candidates should be able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced remote environment.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines are needed.
A degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field is required.
Nice to have: Experience writing for government or nonprofit organizations, familiarity with content management systems like Drupal, and experience using Figma.
