Description:
The Muse is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to work remotely in Canada, with other locations considered on a case-by-case basis.
The company attracts 70 million annual users, primarily Gen Z and Millennial professionals, to connect with companies that match their values.
The role involves collaborating with a close-knit team across various functional groups, including email marketing, editorial, account management, sales, marketing, tech, data engineering, and product.
The analyst will create innovative analyses to understand The Muse's performance and drive analytical products to meet customer needs.
Responsibilities include providing actionable reporting, analysis, and recommendations to improve performance, designing analytical standards, and establishing innovative analytical reports.
The analyst will translate data requests into actionable data plans and deliver dashboards for data-driven decision-making using SQL, R, Looker, and other business intelligence tools.
The position requires working primarily during business hours of 9-5pm (GMT-5) and is not a data engineering role.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 3-5 years of related work experience in analytics, presenting data to non-technical audiences, and providing valuable insights that drive strategic thinking.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required, along with the ability to discuss analytical findings fluently.
The candidate should be a "data detective," capable of investigating issues to identify root causes and ensure data quality.
Strong relationship management and interpersonal abilities are essential.
Proficiency in SQL, R, or Python for data analysis, as well as familiarity with Excel or Sheets for pivot tables and vlookups, is necessary.
Experience with Looker or other BI tools is required.
The candidate should be an innovative team player who can work independently and drive data initiatives.
Ability to work cross-functionally and convert stakeholder requests into technical requirements is crucial.
A passion for customer experience and an empathetic, analytical mindset are important.
Candidates should be able to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with SEO and performance marketing techniques is preferred.
Experience in media, content, publishing, job platforms, or consumer-facing websites is a plus.

Benefits:
The salary for this position ranges from $75,000 to $85,000 a year, commensurate with experience and background.
