The Sr. Data Engineer will be part of the global Operations & Technology organization, focusing on data and analytics strategies for NBCUniversal's vast portfolio of brands.
This role involves designing, building, and scaling data pipelines across various source systems and streams, including internal, third-party, and cloud-based environments.
The candidate will implement design patterns while optimizing performance, cost, security, and end-user experience.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to understand data requirements and develop efficient data acquisition and integration strategies.
The role requires interfacing with other technology teams to extract, load, and transform data from diverse sources using cloud-native data engineering principles.
The Sr. Data Engineer will become a subject matter expert in data engineering technologies and designs.
The position involves coaching and guiding others in building scalable pipelines based on foundational data engineering principles.
Participation in development sprints, demos, and retrospectives is expected, alongside releases and deployment.
Building and managing relationships with supporting engineering teams to deliver work products effectively is crucial.
The candidate will create documentation for developers and business users to facilitate understanding of products.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a data engineering or related role is required.
Direct experience in designing and building data modeling, ETL/ELT development principles, or data warehousing concepts is necessary.
Strong knowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles is essential.
Deep experience in building data pipelines using Python and SQL is required.
Proficiency in Airflow or similar orchestration engines is necessary.
The candidate must have deep experience in applying CI/CD principles and processes to data engineering solutions.
A strong understanding of cloud data engineering design patterns and use cases is required.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or a quantitative field is mandatory.
