Description:

  • Prosper is seeking a Sr. Data Scientist for the Data Science team under the Credit Risk Analytics vertical.
  • The role involves becoming a core contributor with machine learning expertise on the credit risk team and delivering results that directly impact the business.
  • Responsibilities include building industry-leading machine learning models for managing credit and fraud risks.
  • The candidate will leverage multiple complex data sources, such as credit bureau reports and customer-supplied information, to optimize approve/decline and credit line assignment decisions.
  • Collaboration with engineers to deploy models into a production environment is essential.
  • The role requires proposing and executing solutions to various problems within business constraints.
  • The candidate will use responsible AI techniques following regulatory requirements and lending best practices.
  • Assisting the team in developing tools and workflow solutions to increase data science productivity is expected.
  • The candidate will actively monitor credit risk models in production and extract the most value out of data to significantly impact key business metrics.
  • Conducting ad-hoc analysis related to risk management, investor services, operations, and corporate development is also part of the job.

Requirements:

  • The candidate must have 6+ years of work experience in fintech, finance, or another high-impact field applying statistical and machine learning predictive techniques, with educational experience taken into consideration.
  • An advanced degree (M.S./PhD) in statistics, computer science, engineering, physical sciences, economics, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Expert knowledge in statistical programming languages such as Python and database languages such as SQL is required.
  • A solid understanding of coding best practices and model documentation is necessary.
  • Strong communication skills are essential, with the ability to clearly and succinctly communicate technical subject matter to team members and senior management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are needed to collaborate with people across functions and develop strong relationships.
  • The candidate must be able to work unsupervised in a fast-paced environment and prioritize among parallel projects.
  • The ability to think within regulatory guidelines with a mindset toward reproducible research is important.
  • The candidate should be self-motivated, results-oriented, enthusiastic, and a creative thinker.

Benefits:

  • The salary range for the Senior Data Scientist position is $151,000 - $186,000 annually, plus bonus and generous benefits.
