Description:

Varo is a digital, mission-driven bank that is FDIC insured and designed for modern consumers.
The Data Science Team at Varo develops Machine Learning models to enhance customer access to funds, protect against fraud, and improve in-app experiences with real-time recommendations.
The role involves leading Machine Learning efforts in fraud detection, developing models that calculate fraud risk scores and predict transaction behavior.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, optimizing, and deploying ML-based fraud models, collaborating with stakeholders, and mentoring junior team members.

Requirements:

A minimum of 4 years of experience in developing Machine Learning applications for fraud or risk.
Demonstrated experience or interest in building fraud detection machine learning models.
A Ph.D. or equivalent in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field is required.
Candidates should possess a strong bias for action and be team players.
The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment is essential.
Familiarity with Sagemaker, Spark, TensorFlow, Keras, and PyTorch is preferred.

The salary range for this position is between $160,000 and $180,000, based on experience and expertise.
