Description:
The database reliability engineering team is responsible for supporting the Database as a Service (DBaaS).
The role requires eagerness to learn new technologies and stay updated on upcoming technologies in the database arena and industry trends.
Responsibilities include implementing best practices for database management to ensure optimal performance and availability.
The engineer will manage and evolve database monitoring tools, performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required.
Investigating and resolving complex database-related issues while providing technical expertise and guidance to the team is essential.
The position involves implementing designs by writing scripts, configuring systems, servers, and cloud resources, including testing and debugging.
Designing and implementing backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability is a key responsibility.
Conducting regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies is required.
Participation in on-call rotations and providing support for database-related incidents is expected.
Requirements:
A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, science, or business, or equivalent experience is required.
Candidates must have 5+ years of hands-on experience with one or more databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB, with a preference for MySQL.
A minimum of 5+ years of experience in managing, administering, and tuning databases is necessary.
Experience working with cloud infrastructure in one or more cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is required, with a preference for AWS.
Familiarity with cloud-native database technologies like RDS and Aurora is essential.
Experience with tools like Terraform and Chef is required.
Knowledge of High Availability solutions like Orchestrator is necessary.
Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Ruby, or Go is required.
Advanced knowledge of database security, backup, recovery, replication, and performance monitoring standards is essential.
A good understanding of database design, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance is required.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary.
Certifications in cloud technologies and database technologies are a plus.
