Description:

Zapier is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join their Data AI/ML team.
The role involves empowering product, business, and engineering teams to leverage AI daily.
Responsibilities include enhancing machine learning and AI tooling capabilities and providing technical mentorship.
The position is fully remote, targeting candidates in the Americas and Europe timezones.
The engineer will work on various projects, collaborating with engineering teams to develop and improve ML and LLM models.
Tasks include designing and implementing prompting for LLMs, creating prototypes, processing data for model fine-tuning, and building RAG systems.
The engineer will also develop data literacy programs and participate in an on-call rotation to support production services.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 7+ years of experience in Machine Learning (ML) in production, with at least 1-2 years focused on Large Language Models (LLM).
Proficiency in writing clean Python code and knowledge of ML/LLM data structures, modeling, software architecture, libraries, and frameworks is required.
Strong applied ML/LLM knowledge combined with statistical expertise, including experience with predictive modeling, time series modeling, classification, and clustering techniques, is essential.
A solid understanding of LLMs and ML models in production environments, including experience with evaluation frameworks for performance and bias assessment, is necessary.
Familiarity with various prompt techniques for LLM grounding and knowledge retrieval optimization is required.
Candidates should have experience in automating ModelOps/DataOps processes and data wrangling for modeling purposes.
Strong written communication skills are essential, as the team operates remotely and relies on written communication.
Proven stakeholder management expertise and the ability to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences are required.
A collaborative mindset and eagerness to share knowledge with teammates of varying statistical and ML/LLM knowledge levels are important.
Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to iterate on solutions are necessary.
