Remote Sr. Manager, Database Reliability Engineer

Description:

• The Sr. Manager, Database Reliability Engineer at iHerb will oversee the Database Reliability team, ensuring the uptime, performance, and reliability of database systems.
• Responsibilities include leading a team of database reliability engineers, hiring top talent, conducting regular feedback sessions, and working with leadership to enhance the data stack.
• The role involves defining observability metrics, participating in on-call support, driving automation of database infrastructure in AWS, and collaborating with other technology teams.
• Minimum qualifications include a BS or MS in Computer Science, 5+ years of management experience, 7+ years of operating large-scale relational databases, and proficiency in infrastructure automation tools like Ansible and Terraform.
• Strong programming skills in Python, experience with data engineering pipeline technologies, and familiarity with Databricks are desired.

Requirements:

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical peers.
• 5+ years of direct management experience in a technology role.
• 7+ years of experience operating large-scale relational databases.
• 5+ years of experience with infrastructure automation tools like Ansible and Terraform.
• Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages.
• 2+ years of experience with data engineering pipeline and streaming technologies.
• Familiarity with Databricks is a strong plus.
