Description:
Smartsheet is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to join their platform pillar and help design and implement the next generation architecture.
The role involves identifying platform scale and performance challenges, leading strategic projects, and mentoring other engineers.
The engineer will drive positive change in the work environment and communicate effectively with various audiences, including executives and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities include building scalable back-end services using technologies such as Kotlin, Java, GO, and Python, and solving distributed systems problems with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure).
The engineer will participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and mentor junior engineers on code quality and industry best practices.
The position allows for remote work from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 12+ years of software development experience in building highly scalable and highly available applications.
A minimum of 12+ years of programming experience with full stack technologies such as Java, Kotlin, or TypeScript is required.
At least 2+ years of experience with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.) is necessary.
Experience in developing, documenting, and supporting REST APIs is essential.
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience is required.
Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis.
