Description:
Houzz is seeking a world-class Data Scientist to join the Pro Software DS team.
The mission is to assist Houzz software initiatives with data-driven insights.
The team focuses on discovering information hidden in vast amounts of data to make intelligent business decisions and deliver better products.
Critical projects will emphasize data-driven insights to guide product development and business direction.
Responsibilities include collaborating with leadership, product, design, and engineering teams to identify, define, and launch strategic and operational data science initiatives to improve Pro software performance.
The role involves ensuring product areas meet high expectations and identifying, diagnosing, and recommending projects to enhance customer experience for software products.
The Data Scientist will define key metrics (KPIs) to guide business decision-making across various aspects of the site.
A deep understanding of business results and drivers is required, along with a strong drive to influence business decisions and metrics.
The position includes designing product experiments, interpreting results to draw detailed and impactful conclusions, and conducting root cause analysis.
The Data Scientist will own the end-to-end execution of projects by working with a broad cross-functional team.
Collaboration with data infrastructure and product engineering teams to define data collection needs is essential.
The role also involves providing recommendations to assist quick product ideation and feature launch decisions.
Requirements:
A Master's Degree with 5+ years of experience in a Data Science role within a high-growth tech company is required.
Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, including aggregate functions and all types of joins using Hive or Presto, is necessary.
Strong programming skills in Python or R are essential.
Experience with machine learning and statistical modeling, along with a passion for model evaluation and applications, is required.
Proficiency in advanced experimental design, testing, and analysis is necessary.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are essential.
The candidate must be self-motivated, independent, and eager to learn.
Ideally, experience working with remote teams across different time zones is preferred.
Experience with SaaS solutions, user engagement, and funnel conversion is a plus.
Experience mentoring junior data scientists is desirable.
The ability to learn and act quickly, making decisions and drawing conclusions in the face of ambiguity, is preferred.
Benefits:
The role offers an annual starting salary range of $150,000 - $185,000.
