Description:

  • The Sr. Software Engineer will be part of a multi-disciplinary, agile application development team responsible for operating and enhancing an enterprise government system.
  • The role involves guiding data modernization efforts in collaboration with product and design teams to shape long-term goals and initiatives.
  • The position is fully remote, with occasional team gatherings throughout the year.
  • Key responsibilities include architecting and implementing complex software and infrastructure platforms, managing engineering teams, and conducting code reviews.
  • The engineer will work closely with product and design teams to understand end-user requirements and develop back-end components to improve system performance.
  • Responsibilities also include investigating and debugging test failures, collaborating with various departments to optimize customer journeys, and improving existing system functionality.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field is required.
  • Candidates must have 7+ years of engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies such as Storybook, Angular, Node.js, React, and US Web Design Standards (USWDS) is necessary.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) is required.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD processes is essential.
  • Some knowledge of containerization technology, such as Docker or Kubernetes, is preferred.
  • Experience in developing RESTful API endpoints using object-oriented programming languages (e.g., Java/Spring) is required.
  • Candidates should have a strong understanding of agile methodologies, including Scrum, Lean, or SAFe.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data integration standards, including HL7, FHIR, JSON, and XML, is necessary.
  • Understanding of healthcare terminology sets and interoperability standards is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with customers and team members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary to motivate teams toward common goals.
  • Experience at CMS (Center of Medicare & Medicaid) or in the health industry is a plus.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required, and candidates must reside in the Continental US.
  • Depending on the government agency, specific requirements may include a public trust background check or security clearance.
