The Sr. Software Engineer will be part of a multi-disciplinary, agile application development team responsible for operating and enhancing an enterprise government system.
The role involves guiding data modernization efforts in collaboration with product and design teams to shape long-term goals and initiatives.
The position is fully remote, with occasional team gatherings throughout the year.
Key responsibilities include architecting and implementing complex software and infrastructure platforms, managing engineering teams, and conducting code reviews.
The engineer will work closely with product and design teams to understand end-user requirements and develop back-end components to improve system performance.
Responsibilities also include investigating and debugging test failures, collaborating with various departments to optimize customer journeys, and improving existing system functionality.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field is required.
Candidates must have 7+ years of engineering experience.
Familiarity with front-end technologies such as Storybook, Angular, Node.js, React, and US Web Design Standards (USWDS) is necessary.
Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) is required.
Strong knowledge of CI/CD processes is essential.
Some knowledge of containerization technology, such as Docker or Kubernetes, is preferred.
Experience in developing RESTful API endpoints using object-oriented programming languages (e.g., Java/Spring) is required.
Candidates should have a strong understanding of agile methodologies, including Scrum, Lean, or SAFe.
Familiarity with healthcare data integration standards, including HL7, FHIR, JSON, and XML, is necessary.
Understanding of healthcare terminology sets and interoperability standards is required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with customers and team members.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary to motivate teams toward common goals.
Experience at CMS (Center of Medicare & Medicaid) or in the health industry is a plus.
US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required, and candidates must reside in the Continental US.
Depending on the government agency, specific requirements may include a public trust background check or security clearance.
Benefits:
The salary range for this position is between $100,000 and $150,000, depending on experience, geographic location, and contractual requirements.
