Description:
Brevity is seeking a hands-on Senior Software Engineer who enjoys shipping production code and owning product features end-to-end.
The role involves building across their Python/Django + React stack and evolving their architecture as usage grows 10Γ.
This position is intended as a pure individual contributor role with minimal people management and business-side meetings.
Responsibilities include designing, implementing, testing, and deploying product features across their stack, which includes AWS, Kubernetes, Postgres (RDS), Redis, SQS, Lambda, and DynamoDB.
The engineer will work with Python/Django, React, and Tailwind / Material-UI, and will also handle integrations with subprocessors.
The role requires contributing to system-level architecture and technical design reviews focused on performance, reliability, security, and cost.
The engineer will champion engineering excellence through code reviews, automated testing, observability, and CI/CD practices to help scale the company.
Collaboration with Product and Design teams is essential to break down requirements, estimate effort, and deliver incremental value on predictable timelines.
The engineer may occasionally mentor junior/mid-level engineers through pair programming and feedback while remaining a strong individual contributor.
Participation in a low-intensity on-call rotation (approximately one week per quarter) is expected alongside the engineering team.
Requirements:
Candidates must have recent experience (within the last 2 years) as a Senior Software Engineer in an early-stage, high-growth, fast-paced startup team.
Familiarity with some or all of the following technologies is required: Python/Django, React, AWS, Kubernetes, Postgres, Redis/SQS, Lambda, and DynamoDB.
In the last 6 months, candidates should have shipped pull requests for back-end and front-end microservices and integrated with cloud services, ideally involving several elements of the mentioned stack.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in building and scaling enterprise SaaS applications is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary, with the ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly to fellow engineers and maintain a positive outlook in challenging situations.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
Benefits:
The position offers the opportunity to work in a venture-backed, seed-stage startup environment.
Employees will have the chance to contribute to AI-driven SaaS solutions that improve revenue performance for Fortune 500 and Mid-Market firms.
The role allows for significant ownership of product features and the opportunity to evolve the company's architecture.
There is potential for mentorship opportunities, contributing to the growth of junior and mid-level engineers.
The company promotes a culture of engineering excellence and collaboration, providing a supportive work environment.
