Remote Sr. Software Engineer, Trust and Safety

Description:

• The Sr. Software Engineer will work in the Content Policy and Moderation Tools team at Vimeo, focusing on empowering moderators to combat spammers, scammers, hackers, and exploiters.
• The role involves building and improving tools that enhance the trust and safety team's ability to protect users and the platform.
• The engineer will collaborate closely with customer-facing Trust and Safety teams and other internal teams to develop products that improve daily operations.
• Responsibilities include creating user-facing security features to protect users from bad actors and finding innovative solutions to common abuse problems.
• The engineer will sculpt the architectural vision for significant parts of the tech stack to facilitate rapid iteration and long-term stability.
• The position also includes mentoring other engineers on the team to support their technical growth.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 3+ years of experience and a deep understanding of the Trust and Safety domain.
• Extensive experience with at least one server-side programming language such as PHP, Python, Go, Java, Ruby, or Node is required.
• Proficiency in front-end web development, particularly with React and/or NextJS, is necessary.
• An intimate knowledge of relational database systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server, along with data modeling techniques, is essential.
• Proven experience in building scalable web applications, including backend services, APIs, and databases, is required.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills are necessary to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
• Candidates should be organized, capable of breaking projects into manageable pieces, and completing them by established deadlines with limited compromises.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and debug complex issues are required.
• Experience in mentoring team members through architectural guidance and thorough code reviews is essential.
