Description:

  • The Sr. SQL Data DBA participates in the design, development, implementation, review, and monitoring of all on-premises and cloud database environments.
  • This role involves working closely with the Software Development, Data Engineering, and QA teams to ensure that each team has the resources needed to run efficiently and effectively.
  • The Sr. SQL Data DBA will provide guidelines and recommendations on best practices in the field.
  • Responsibilities include designing, implementing, maintaining, and monitoring database servers across environments including Production, QA, and Development.
  • The role ensures High Availability and meets SLAs for systems across environments.
  • The Sr. SQL Data DBA will design and implement monitoring solutions to achieve HA and SLA goals.
  • The position involves reviewing and auditing all environments for best practices in security.
  • The role assists in TSQL development, including check-in, review, build, testing, and deployment, and supports the SQL CI/CD life cycle.
  • The Sr. SQL Data DBA will assist developers in best practices for writing queries and procedures.
  • The position includes assisting in system capacity planning and creating and implementing new environments based on business needs.
  • The role also involves mentoring and leading team members in best practices for administration and development.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have at least 10+ years of hands-on SQL Server transactional experience.
  • Strong knowledge of MS SQL Server, TSQL, Power Shell, and coding best practices is required.
  • Knowledge of MySQL and Postgres is preferred.
  • Candidates should have strong knowledge of AWS Cloud Services such as RDS and Redshift.
  • Experience using Source Control (GitHub) to maintain scripts and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) throughout the SDLC is necessary.
  • A strong understanding of SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery technologies, such as availability groups, backups and restores, FCI, log shipping, mirroring, and replication is required.
  • Strong SQL Server administration skills, including backups, restores, taking and reverting snapshots, user/role security, and access permissions, are essential.
  • Candidates must have a strong understanding of SQL Server concurrency features, transactions, and locking.
  • Expert experience in SQL performance analysis and optimization (tuning/optimization) is required.
  • Experience with SQL Server debugging and tracing is necessary.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Jira and Confluence is required.
  • Candidates should have familiarity with BI technologies, such as ETL, data warehousing, SSAS/OLAP, data mining, and big data technologies.
  • An associate's degree, preferably in Computer Science or equivalent experience, is required.
