Shield AI is a venture-backed defense technology company founded in 2015, focused on protecting service members and civilians with intelligent systems.
The Special Projects team is an elite group within the office of the CTO, consisting of highly experienced software engineering experts from diverse fields.
This team is responsible for steering technology development towards strategic alignment with the CTO’s vision and making contributions to Hivemind, Shield AI’s software ecosystem.
Hivemind includes three products: Hivemind Edge, Hivemind Design, and Hivemind Commander, each with specific functionalities and technologies.
The team operates effectively within ambiguity and impacts the development of foundational Hivemind products.
As part of the team, you will work on integrating Hivemind Edge, Design, and Commander into a cohesive product.
Responsibilities include creating technology strategies, iterating with customer feedback, developing reference implementations, exploring future technologies, and identifying technical debt.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 15+ years of related experience in developing large, production-quality software systems.
Expertise in modern C++ (C++17 and beyond) is required.
Candidates should have deep experience in architectural design and implementation of large and complex distributed systems.
Experience with Git and code management tools is necessary.
A passion for developing high-quality and optimized software solutions is essential.
Excellent software hygiene regarding code documentation, unit testing, and bug tracking is required.
Strong technical collaboration skills and a desire to develop new skills are important.
Candidates should thrive in a fast-moving environment with a highly motivated group.
A demonstrated record of hard work, trustworthiness, high standards, and kindness is expected.
Fluid intelligence to operate effectively in ambiguous conditions is necessary.

The salary range for this position is $168,871 - $253,306 per year, with additional bonuses and benefits.
Regular employee positions include salary, bonus, benefits, and equity.
Temporary employee positions offer hourly pay and a temporary benefits package after 60 days of employment.
International positions may include additional compensation such as premium, hardship differential, cost of living differential, and relocation assistance.
