Description:

  • The Senior Virtualization and Compute Engineer is primarily responsible for the overall health and maintenance of virtualization and compute products in managed services customer environments.
  • This role acts as a subject matter expert (SME) and escalation point for complex technical events and critical incidents requiring expert intervention.
  • Daily administration and operational support of core infrastructure will focus on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), NSX, and VMware Aria suite.
  • The engineer will collaborate with vendors and internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve virtualization and compute platform issues.
  • Responsibilities include performing deep root cause analysis and developing workarounds or permanent solutions to maintain business continuity.
  • The engineer will gather, define, and document infrastructure and application requirements by working closely with developers, business systems teams, stakeholders, and external consultants.
  • Maintaining a stable, secure, and well-documented infrastructure aligned with industry best practices is essential.
  • The role ensures the integrity, availability, and continuity of systems supporting enterprise IT operations.
  • Continuous learning through assigned training and certifications to stay current with emerging technologies and best practices is encouraged.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 10+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise virtualization technologies.
  • Proven expertise in VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) is a must-have.
  • Strong hands-on experience with NSX (network virtualization and security) is required.
  • Proficiency with VMware Aria for cloud automation and operations is necessary.
  • Experience managing VMware hypervisors in large-scale environments is essential.
  • Familiarity with storage platforms like Pure and NetApp is advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience with performance and monitoring tools such as LogicMonitor, SolarWinds, or Elastic is required.
  • Scripting knowledge using PowerShell and PowerCLI is preferred.
  • Candidates should have operating system proficiency in Windows and Linux environments.
  • Experience with backup solutions like Commvault is a plus.
  • Exposure to Azure Cloud Platform and Azure Virtual Desktop is desired.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a related field is required, with equivalent experience considered.
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) is preferred.
  • VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) is also preferred.
  • Experience in Managed Services or IT consulting environments is an advantage.
  • ITIL v4 certification is encouraged.

  • The compensation range reflects the On-Target Earnings (“OTE”) for this role, which includes a base salary and any applicable target bonus amount, varying based on the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
