Description:

  • Frequence is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join their cross-functional Agile development teams.
  • The role involves influencing and driving the technical direction of the team and the organization.
  • Responsibilities include owning large, impactful features, tackling complex cross-functional problems, and collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • The Staff Engineer will mentor team members, break down complex problems into actionable solutions, and lead strategies for addressing technical debt.
  • Key tasks include designing, developing, and executing high-impact features, influencing architectural decisions, and coordinating complex feature launches.
  • The engineer will act as a primary technical interface to product managers and senior leadership, driving roadmap changes and advising on team systems.
  • The role requires collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders to research customer challenges and propose innovative solutions.
  • The engineer will facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams to enhance the effectiveness of the engineering organization.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience is required.
  • A minimum of 7+ years of experience in backend or full-stack software engineering is necessary, with a proven track record of delivering complex software systems.
  • Expertise in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Go, C#, Java, Kotlin, Rust) and strong experience in systems design and architecture is essential.
  • Deep experience in delivering SaaS software and a thorough understanding of the full software development lifecycle is required.
  • The candidate must demonstrate the ability to influence architecture decisions affecting multiple teams, focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Experience in identifying and solving complex, cross-functional problems with minimal guidance is necessary.
  • A proven track record of taking ownership of large features or critical engineering problems and delivering them end-to-end is required.
  • Strong mentoring and coaching skills, along with excellent communication and collaboration abilities, are essential.
  • Solid experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, and a strong understanding of data modeling, performance optimization, and system design principles is required.
  • Nice to have: Golang experience, GCP experience, and Adtech experience.
